Tansel Tanşu: The Emotional Guitarist and Songwriter of Alternative Rock

Born in Izmir (03.03.1988), musician Tansel Tanşu is a talented guitarist and songwriter representing the “soft and emotional” sound of the Alternative Rock scene. His musical journey, which started in school choirs during his childhood, continued with the electric guitar in high school. Tanşu, who largely defines himself as self-taught, has built a solid identity in the music world with his individual works and numerous group projects. He currently continues his active music life in Batman, on the stage of Minerva Bookstore Cafe.

Musical Identity and Style

Although Tansel Tanşu’s field of production is Alternative Rock, he defines his style as “soft and emotional”. This emotional depth is nourished by a wide range of sources of inspiration such as nature, literature and social issues, which form the basis of his works. The artist presents a completely personal and original narrative to the listener by writing all the lyrics and music of his songs himself.

The names that influenced him musically are Teoman and Mor ve Ötesi, which are milestones of Turkish rock music. He creates his unique sound by blending this interaction with his own emotional and melodic structure.

Versatile Career and Projects

Throughout his career, Tansel Tanşu, who has been involved in various musical disciplines, has been in the line-up of important groups such as MANYETİKBAND, BİZSİZ10LAR, OKAY AYBEY and, most famously, KADANS PROJECT as a guitarist. In addition to his group experiences, Tanşu, who also focuses on his solo works, has released his single titled “ELA”. He worked with his friend Bayram Ekinci from the group Bizsiz10lar during the recording and mixing stages of this work. In addition, the music video for “ELA” was designed by the artist’s close colleague Okay Aybey.

Stage Experience and Listener Connection

Tansel Tanşu, who displays a powerful presence on stage with his electric guitar, has performed at events in different regions of Turkey such as Ege University Spring Festivals, Aydın Ünirock Song Contest Regional Final and İzmir Dikili Eftelya Lounge.

The most important feature that makes the artist different in interacting with the audience is the constant contact and sincere approach he establishes with them. Tanşu emphasizes this special bond by saying, “I am always in contact with the audience, and in every song, there is definitely a verse (part) that I leave to them.” His most unforgettable stage moment in his career was when his 3-year-old daughter came on stage and sang with him.

Vision and Message to Young Musicians

Tansel Tanşu, who leads an active life with his interests such as motorcycles and fitness in areas other than music, the biggest source of motivation in art is the support of his family.

Tanshu, who sets his future goals as major festival stages, is currently working on several new songs that are in the arrangement and planning phase. His message to young musicians is extremely clear and inspiring: “Don’t give up on your dreams.” Tansel Tanşu continues to add value to the alternative rock scene with his passion for music and his constantly evolving vision.
