FlyBoi: The Alternative Rap Sound Rising from İzmir’s Underground Spirit

The encounter with music happened in 2009 with the first piece he listened to, Ceza’s cult classic “Holocaust”. This moment marked the starting point of FlyBoi’s musical journey. The artist began to form his artistic identity early on by working with regional bands in the rich local scene of his hometown İzmir.

Transition from Stage to Production

Having his first performance experience in 2011, FlyBoi appeared continuously in front of audiences on various platforms until 2017. This period played a critical role in developing his performance and stage mastery. The turning point in his professional career was his collaboration with K2 Production. His career gained new momentum when he was invited to join the production team, which he met through a friend’s introduction, based on his own Beat work by Utku Biroğlu. This collaboration allowed his works to move to a professional level.

Original Creative Process and Broad Sources of Inspiration

FlyBoi’s creative process largely relies on authentic and rapid flow. In his solo works, he usually records vocals in a single take (Freestyle) after completing the Beat, creating the raw text and then carefully editing the lyrics to finalize his pieces. In group projects, he adopts a completely free creative process with a shared energy and instant inspiration.

Although the artist’s style is fundamentally based on Rap, the sources of inspiration are quite diverse. The biggest indicator of this diversity is that he actively listens to Alternative music genres of the 70s and 80s. The process of creating his own unique style has been naturally shaped not only by this wide range of listening but also by the mood at the time and the works being done. The artist particularly highlights Ceza’s “Yerli Plaka” album among the important works that have guided his music.

Future Vision

FlyBoi is working intensively on 4 new singles that will meet listeners in the near future with a high production tempo, followed by a planned album project. With these projects, the artist aims to reach wide audiences with his unique style and enriched Rap music with alternative tones.
